OK, before you go "WHAT? Has Jon changed his lifestyle?" No...I am still happily married to a wonderful woman, Danielle, who is the light of my life and my best friend. Forever...
So I just got done from a dip in the hot tub for some "Me" time. While enjoying the view of Paso Robles that we have been blessed with (thank you MonaVie) I continued to read the book I received as a gift. Steve and Gina Merritt gave this to me during the last R3 Global Dream Day in N. California when I gave my heart to the Lord...Although I am only about 1/4 way through it is giving me some great insights. The book is "Wild at Heart" by John Eldridge. Now i have not been one to do a lot of ready, and when I do it usually takes me a long...long...long...time to finish. So i am not just a slow reader, sometimes my focus is a little off...Wandering Mind...Ill mention more about how i got this book that day. It was truly Godly.
I don't want to give a book report or quote a ton of stuff from the book, as i couldn't do it justice. I just wanted to pass on a message from the book...
We are damaged. There is no crossing through this country side of life without taking a wound. Those wounds no matter how old or new, deliver with it a message. We then shape our personality from this message. What flows from that is a False Self. We then live our life from this False Self related from this wound. Most men out there are living from a place of a False Self.
This was a powerful read. It really made me think how many of us Men are living in this False Self? How many even know that they are? Who knows what they really want to be or do? How many are not giving more of themselves to the relationships around them? How about their wives? How many are telling themselves...She doesn't need me? How many are getting that message to them from their spouse? Hmmm. Something to think about...
Lets Stand Up Men! Real Men Do Cry! But Real Men...Are Real...Not False. So be yourself. Lets all focuses a little more on our relationships in our homes, and businesses.
"A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit." - Proverbs 15:13 NIV
God Bless all you Men and Women...
Jon
